Paint a Pot

  • So you are ready to paint a pot and are interested in how it works. You are on the right page!

  • Book your session either by phone or via our online booking system. This is essential at weekends and during school hoidays. Walk ins are accepted subject to availability.

  • All personal data is only used for our own purposes, will not be shared with anyone else and is password protected.

  • During Saturdays, Sundays and School Holidays: If you are going to be late, please call us to let us know because due to an increase in 'No Shows' we have implemented a new policy.

  • This is that if no contact has been received 15 minutes after the time of your booking we reserve the right to allocate your table to other people. If you aren't able to come then please cancel your reservation.

  • We have twelve tables over four rooms and two floors, if you want a specific table then please tell us in the booking text.

  • Session times are purely for scheduling purposes and we will not charge you based on time, only on the items of pottery chosen to paint.
  • Whist you are here

  • When you arrive at the studio, make your way to the counter and let us know who you are so we can book you in.

  • We will then let you know which table is yours and your group will be invited to browse the shelves to choose items to paint.

  • Once seated with your item of pottery a member of staff will explain how it works and what you need to do to get the best results. All the information is written on the table mats too.

  • In the studio you will find various tools and sponges for you to use. If you are unsure how to use them please ask, we will be more than happy to explain how they work.

  • We have a few how to videos here on the website. Take a look!

  • Around the studio there are many painted examples to inspire you. You can also find many more on our Pinterest page and in the galleries here on our website.
  • Time to leave

  • When you have finished painting please help us a little bit by putting the glazes back in the correct boxes and making sure all the writer pens have the pins back in the top. We will clear away all the painting things and wash up the tile pallets etc

  • Then bring all of your pottery to the counter, be careful not to smudge anything or drop it on the way!

  • We use a computerised point of sales system and we will ask you for your name, email and phone number. This is usually taken from the booking system app.

  • Remember to collect your loyalty card stamps - one full side is worth £10 off your next visit!

  • You will then leave your pot with us and we will dip it into a special glaze and then fire it in the kiln. The whole process takes about a week.

  • Currently we fire our kilns at the weekend ready for your pottery to be collected on Tuesday or Wednesday. Sometimes the kiln gods don't always play fair and your pot may need to be fired again. If you have to make a special journey please call ahead to ensure your item is ready.

  • You should receive an email from us the following week to let you know your items are ready - don't worry if it doesn't appear, still come or give us a call to confirm. Your items are recorded on our computer and we just need the booking name to find them.

  • If you have a large number of pottery items to collect - or big things - please bring a bag with you, out paper bags don't always cut it!
